The original Spartan Thunder Blade was concepted by friend of mine named Antony Huynh. Based on the film and graphic novel “300,” this blade combines Ancient Greece with a cyberpunk twist. A high-poly version was sculpted to capture detailed surface information, then baked onto a low-poly mesh. This blade uses a singular color map, focusing on strong color and value choices rather than complex materials. It was modeled in Maya, refined in ZBrush, retopologized back in Maya, and textured using Substance/Photoshop for a mix of procedural and hand-painted detail.
